Deep phenotyping psoriasis

Elucidate novel disease characteristics and biomarkers and understand pathogenesis in greater detail function.

The complex pathophysiology of immunological skin diseases requires a novel, method-rich and integrated approach. Therefore, multidimensional profiling of diseases by means of systems pharmacology / dermatology is necessary. Over the recent year CHDR-LACDR-EMC-TNO have developed a comprehensive methodology to phenotype patients in various dimensions including molecular and cellular information from the skin tissue, the cutaneous microbiome, clinical assessments from the physician and patient-reported outcomes.

Complementary techniques are available at LACDR with the lipidomics platform (LC-MS analysis) Aim of the project is the multidimensional profiling of patients and the skin for the purpose of I)getting better mechanistic understanding of disease and II) to identify and characterize biomarkers for clinical research.

At LACDRthe lipidomics platform will be used to establish in this disease:

  1. Discrimination power (lesional vs. non-lesional skin vs. healthy)
  2. Natural course (lesional – placebo and non-lesional)
  3. Suitability as biomarker in an intervention trial
  4. Correlation to disease burden / other read outs
